Treatments

Aromatherapy treatments.

Aromatherapy is the art and science of using natural, aromatic essential oils, which are absorbed into the skin during gentle massage treatments. It is the most popular and fastest growing branch of complementary therapy in the world, and is both relaxing and therapeutic.

As everyone is different, and has their own preferences and dislikes, I try to create Different Strokes for different folks by spending time in finding out which oils would be the most beneficial for you and to meet your particular needs.

I do hope that you enjoy your aromatherapy experience at Different Strokes and find it beneficial and relaxing.

Courses

I offer a short course (2 sessions: one and a half hours each) in an introduction to aromatherapy. Session one is the underpinning knowledge and Session two is the practical application of oils (including massage). This course is offered either on an individual basis or as a group session and can be adapted to suit individual needs. The course can take place in the workplace, for example Nursing or Residential Homes or at Different Strokes. Contact me for fees.

Reiki for people

Carolyn is now a Reiki Master, and is offering this healing therapy at Different Strokes.

The word ‘Reiki’ means ‘Life force energy’. Reiki is not a religious belief, but it is a safe, non - intrusive healing energy, which channels itself to wherever it is needed in your body. The energy originates from the ‘universal source’, rather than directly from the healer. The Reiki practitioner has been attuned to receive and channel the energy to help cleanse and balance the body.

Many different ailments can be relieved by Reiki. Reiki works most obviously on the immune system and on stress related conditions such as headaches, panic attacks, fatigue, insomnia, continuous cold symptoms, etc. Chronic illness, such as arthritis and asthma will also benefit from Reiki, but require repeated treatments for an improvement to be seen. Reiki is suitable for pregnant women and their babies and will help to alleviate morning sickness and lower back pain. Reiki works on both the physical symptoms and the mental and emotional aspects. In short, it can begin to heal the whole person.

Some people are excluded from other alternative therapies like aromatherapy, or reflexology because of their particular medical condition, but everyone can benefit from Reiki healing.

Reiki for pets

Many people are trying alternative therapies and treatments for themselves, as well as attending their own medical practitioners. In many cases, people find both emotional and physical benefits from these therapies. Many of these therapies have been known to benefit animals, as well as their owners.

Why not try a Reiki Treatment for your pets?

REIKI is a safe, non-intrusive healing energy that can be used to benefit people, plants and animals. Many different ailments can be cured or relieved by Reiki. The Reiki practitioner has been attuned to channel positive life force energies into the recipient. Animals, like people, can also suffer from stress-related conditions, and these have been found to respond very well to Reiki treatments.

Carolyn Mc Kittrick-Jackson (VTCT, IIHHT, MICHT, NIABH ) is a qualified Aromatherapist and Reiki Master, and she can offer you a full consultation and treatment for your pet, using Reiki healing therapy techniques.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an holistic healing method which involves pressure & massage of the reflex points which are found on the feet & hands.

The stimulation of these reflex points will dissipate energy blocks, encourage the release of toxins, & so help the body to heal itself.

Apart from treating disease, reflexology is an extremely effective therapy in cases of stress, tension & tiredness, & can be used as a preventative measure against ill health.

Each session of treatment lasts approximately 1 ½ hours, and costs £30.00

Please contact Carolyn for details, or to make an appointment.

Aftercare Advice

I hope that you enjoy your treatment, and that you will continue to feel the wonderful benefits in the days to come.

It is important to realize that the reflexology treatment helps to relax you and rids your body of harmful toxins. In order to help your system cope with toxin elimination, you must try to drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, strong coffee and tea, and only eat a light diet.

Try to relax and feel calm.

Hopefully, you will only experience positive effects from your treatment, but occasionally, some people feel tired, slightly nauseous, or have a headache. This should pass quickly, but if it lasts more than 24 hours, please consult your doctor. Drinking plenty of water often will prevent these unpleasant effects, because they are generally caused by the toxins being released, so don’t let this put you off having further treatments - obviously, the treatment is working. You may also find that you need to use the toilet more often - this is again a sign of your body getting rid of the toxins.
